Lady Windsor's Walk - What's Next?
Lady Windsor's Walk, our last walk on the pike, took place on Saturday 12th Jan, 10.30am, It was the first event in this year's Spring Programme and won't be the last. While a lot of our time so far this year has been spent fending off the unwanted attentions of UK Coal, making sure we stay wihin the rules ourselves, we are now ready to move on further with our own ideas about how the Pontburn Valley might bring us all together.
Our friends at the Tyne Rivers Trust showed us one way in their recent presentation how we might do a bit for ourselves in the way of water testing and invertebrate sampling; our emerging "Bird Group" is looking for ways to make our ongoing bid survey more "user-friendly" and our "Bat Group" might be looking to do a proper survey, at the right time and in the right places (unlike UK Coal's "experts".
We also have much more to do by way of more information leaflets around our ecology, flora and fauna, as well as heritage and are always looking for our own local experts - you - to get involved and help us so we can present decent cases to others so that they can also help, without doing all the work for us.
There is more on ways that you can help in other webpages and in other announcements. Please take the time to take a look around and see what we have to loose unless we work together and use this website.
This was the last in the Marrs' series of illustrated walks centred on the Pontburn Valley but there is always more to know and more to find out if we would but take the time to explore!
Follow the site links to the left under "Pontburn Valley People and Places" to view earlier walks , guides and articles.
There will be ample opportunity to take pictures, perhaps share experiences and add what you also know on the day.
