UK Coal has now formally entered into consultation with local people by holding exhibitions at Leadgate and Dipton Community Centres. Their leaflet has been posted to all households in all the Pontburn Valley villages.
This leaflet, entitled BRADLEY SURFACE COAL MINING SCHEME is reproduced fully elsewhere on our website. It lists, amongst other things, Scheme Benefits, Environmental Safeguards and The Main Differences between Bradley and the Billingside Application.
On our Village Forum we promised to review the supposed scheme benefits listed in this leaflet, and follow this with a similar review of the proposed Environmental Safeguards. Later and on other website pages we will similarly review and discuss the Main Differences between Bradley and the Billingside Application.
We believe this process to be one of true consultation and you can join our on-line debate by using our comment facility to tell us what you think and know. Please do so politely and constructively, anonymously if you must.
For example, one recent comment, reproduced here as an example only, could not be left on site, no matter how witty or appropriate:
"What UK Coal is doing is a bit like peeing on our heads, and expecting us to believe that it's only raining!"
We might agree of course but there might be better ways of making the same point!
These completed web pages, once the debate is concluded and comments reviewed, will be used to support our position. This is that there are no benefits to this scheme that would outweight the disbenefits of opencasting going ahead and Public Inspectors, should it come to that, are not renowned for their senses of humour.
Click On each individual benefit listed under Proposed Scheme Benefits in the main menu to navigate to that page and make your comment.
